Sangin district still in state control: Afghan officials
The Islamists broke through the frontlines of Sangin on Sunday after days of pitched clashes with besieged Afghan forces, tightening their grip on the southern province of Helmand. On the same day Taliban fighters took nearly complete control of Sangin in Helmand province, a town that more than 100 British troops died to defend from 2006 to 2010.

Afghan forces have struggled to contain the insurgency since overseas troops stood down combat operations a year ago.
Districts across Helmand have been threatened by the Taliban in recent months.
Taliban militants have been tightening noose to overrun Sangin district and cut the supply line for troops in provincial capital Lashkar Gah, 555 km south of the national capital Kabul.
