Martina Hingis has continued her second lease of tennis life as purely a doubles player by winning the women’s title at the Australian Open, alongside Sania Mirza.

In the junior competition, fifth seeds Karman Thandi and Pranjala Yadlapalli entered the girls’ doubles quarterfinals after defeating China’s Siqi Cao and Jia Ren 6-4 4-6 (10-2). Raonic was then able to rely on his trademark big serve to see out the first set without much drama. I don’t really leave my house so much, even in Florida or L.A. or Paris.

Hingis has focused exclusively on doubles since her comeback, although she did play two singles matches past year for Switzerland in the Fed Cup tie against Poland due to an injury crisis but lost both. They’ll play the Czech pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka for the championship.

The top seeds fought past seventh seeds Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka 7-6 (1) 6-3 in the women’s doubles final that lasted one hour and 45 minutes. Overall, Sania now has 6 Grand Slam titles including three mixed doubles crowns.

Hingis and Mirza were awarded the Wimbledon, the US Open titles as well as the season during the ending of WTA finals and have been the prevailing toppers of the circuit during 2015. A statement on Man Utd’s official website said: “The time has come for me to hang up my boots”, he said.

Sania will have Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna as the top options for pairing in mixed doubles at Rio Olympics. The Czechs had defeated Mirza and Elena Vesnina to claim the 2011 Roland Garros before landing the 2013 US Open title.

Hlavackova and Hradecka are now 2-3 in Grand Slam doubles finals.

“She’s busy, yeah. She’s got a job to do”, Hingis added. “I always said no”. Djokovic has already beaten Murray in three Australian Open finals and the world number one will get the advantage of an extra day’s rest after he knocked out Roger Federer in four sets in Thursday’s semi-final.
