Santa Clara police union threatens to boycott 49ers games over Kaepernick protest
After drawing disapproval from fans for refusing to stand during the “The Star-Spangled Banner” in all three of his team’s preseason games, San Francisco 49ers’ Colin Kaepernick is defending his patriotism in the best way possible – his pockets.

How many people burning jerseys with Kaepernick’s number have spent time in harm’s way in defense of this country, which grants them the so-called liberties that they love? “I want to try to help make America better”.
The police chief in Santa Clara, home to Levi’s Stadium, says he will urge the leadership of the officers’ union to put citizens’ safety first after its members said they may boycott policing 49ers games if quarterback Colin Kaepernick is not disciplined.
“The message is that we have a lot of issues in this country that we need to deal with”, Kaepernick said.
“I think that’s something that’s hard for this country to address, is what the real issues are”.
“Very interesting issues that we’re dealing with right now”, Carroll said.
“And that came off as more respectful to the country, to the anthem, to the military”.
Kaepernick announced after the game that he plans to donate million to community-based charity organizations.
Kaepernick said his protest is not a criticism of the military.
The Niner QB was on one knee during the presentation of the Colors and the singing of the Anthem, as he continued his protest against the oppression of people of color. “At this point, I think it will be taking a knee”.
He was joined on the sidelines Thursday night by his teammate Eric Reid and Seattle’s Jeremy Lane, who sat during the anthem at the Seahawks-Oakland Raiders game.
Afterward, Kaepernick asked Boyer to join him on the sideline, where the quarterback made a decision to kneel instead of sit during the anthem.
He said kneeling rather than sitting was a gesture of respect for servicemen during the Chargers’ 28th annual Salute to the Military game.
“The media painted this as I’m anti-American, anti-men-and-women of the military and that’s not the case at all”, Kaepernick told reporters. Many urged him to continue to stand up for his beliefs and others yelled, “Kaep for President!”

“It was something I was thinking about to make sure that I’m not just talking about something, but I’m actively being involved and actively trying to make a change in these communities”, Kaepernick said.
