As a precautionary measure, Oldham County Police searched South Oldham High School with the help of school staff. K-9 dogs with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms as well as the Louisville Regional Airport Authority were called in to help the search at the school.
A school security officer was alerted to it after a photo was posted on social media of a student holding a gun in a girl’s rest room, the report said.
The Police Department has opened an investigation and is working with the school district and the child’s parents to investigate the incident.
That’s why police got involved late Monday in the case of a 16-year-old student that first came to the attention of school personnel. “That’s a good thing”, Smith said.

Please understand that due to student confidentiality laws, we can not share the name of the student who created the list or share specifics of any discipline processes related to this incident. “If you look at people bringing weapons onto campus, this time previous year they had about nine or 10 weapons. We would like to have it a lot lower, and I’m sure parents at Lee High School would like to have it at zero, but looking at the big picture overall, no one has been hurt, no one has been shot, and the numbers of weapons are way down”. “The student has been removed from school”, said Lee’s Summit Police Dept Sgt. Chris Depue in a news release.
