Integration between Microsoft’s Excel in the on-prem version of Office, the forerunner to Office 365, has been a staple integration. The two firms indicated that these new capabilities would be available commencing from the third quarter of the current year.
Enabling e-commerce capabilities isn’t a trivial matter for companies small or large, but SAP has a new cloud tool it thinks will help SMBs in particular. Early adopters, Coats LLC, Rockwell Automation and Nortek are already taking advantage of this infrastructure to run their SAP deployments in Azure.
In that deal, SAP’s user interface software, Fiori, will also be combined with iOS to create a new coding language in order to help developers produce apps that are easy to use.
Symmetry’s executives, subject matter experts and solution architects will demonstrate its broad range of services and offerings for SAP® solutions, and share valuable perspective on topics related to SAP HANA including migration strategies, security considerations, platform virtualization and performance monitoring. Customers can choose to deploy a 2-tier or a 3-tier SAP configuration with various Azure VM sizes available to support SAP workloads ranging from 200 SAPS to 20,000 SAPS capacity. It also leverages best practices from certified storage vendors delivering high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions.
“Our culture is built on the commitment to serve as a true operating extension of our customers’ IT organization, and we are proud to be the leading provider of advanced SAP application management and hybrid cloud hosting solutions”, said Pete Stevenson, Chairman and CEO of Symmetry.
“We believe the IT industry will be shaped by breakthrough partnerships that unlock new productivity for customers beyond the boundaries of traditional platforms and applications”, said SAP’s McDermott in a statement.
Microsoft and SAP are deepening their partnership with new integrations between Office 365 and SAP’s cloud products, as well as a plan to bring HANA to Azure.
At the same time, the integration of the two firms will see Office 365 communications, collaboration, calendar, documents, and other data combine with cloud solutions from SAP, including Concur, SAP Fieldglass, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Ariba solutions.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella plans to appear on stage with McDermott at SAP’s Sapphire customer conference today in Orlando, Florida, today. “The certification of Microsoft Azure infrastructure services for SAP HANA along with the new integration between Microsoft Office 365 and cloud solutions from SAP are emblematic of this major paradigm shift for the enterprise”.
