Jonathan Grafton had taken his father’s truck without permission and checked into the motel on Saturday, according to police. Officers arrived to find both victims deceased. “There was an heighten concerned that both murder suspects would be violent when faced with arrest-fortunately no one was injured and we are closer to bringing this tragic case to a conclusion”, Chief Brandon Clabes said in a news release. Grafton and Mason were transported to the Enid Police Department and were returned to Midwest City sometime Monday evening. Pritchard and Grafton had gone to the motel to recover a truck that was stolen from Grafton. They found the stolen truck that Grafton and Pritchard were looking for in Yukon.

The son pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled unsafe substance and drug paraphernalia in June, according to the World. But investigators believe the murders revolved around the truck, Clabes told the TV station.

‘This is not a ‘whodunit, ‘ Clabes said. The officer who was shot, Corporal Gene Watkins, was recovering from injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Clabes expressed his sympathy for the homicide victims and people in Sapulpa have started laying flowers in a makeshift memorial outside the Sapulpa Police Department, KJRH-TV reported. “We had no clue they were wanted”, Davis said. “He loved the community”.
