Sarah Palin doubles down on Paul Ryan snub
House Speaker Paul Ryan cited a scheduling conflict, while Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said he’d attend an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner instead of appearing with his party’s standard bearer.

Trump also tried to mend relations with two Republican senators whom he’d criticized after they faulted him for attacking the Khans: John McCain of Arizona and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire.
Walker’s eventual endorsement of Trump was a tepid one, and after Trump withheld his endorsement of Ryan, Walker immediately tweeted that he stood with Ryan.
“We will have disagreements”, Trump said.
GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is striking a rare tone of party unity.
Ryan will face primary challenger Paul Nehlen in next Tuesday’s primary election for his congressional seat.
Responding to GOP calls for him to refocus his message on Clinton after recent campaign missteps, Trump peppered his hour-long town hall remarks by calling his Democratic opponent “the queen of corruption” and “a risky liar”.
“The economy the media and the Clinton Machine is describing is an economy that doesn’t exist for most Americans”, Trump said. He said he was endorsing the Republican lawmakers due to their “shared mission to make America great again”.
“We’re going to have the same thing”. “I also fully support and endorse Sen. So you know I’m just going to rise above this stuff, and I’m not going to get involved in some sort of petty back and forth, I see no objective in doing that”.
Supporters at times chanted “lock her up” and “USA” during Trump’s critique of Clinton’s foreign policy history, her immigration views and her jobs plan.
“I’m not going to get into any hypotheticals”, he said.
Clinton sought to take advantage of Trump’s dip in the polls at a conference of minority journalists in Washington, where she pledged an all-out fight for comprehensive immigration reform. Fox News first reported the expected endorsement.
On Friday, Clinton maintained, “I never sent or received anything marked classified”, while acknowledging that some material she sent may retroactively have been considered classified by other government agencies.
The email controversy has fuelled a perception among a majority of voters that Clinton is untrustworthy. She told the Honolulu Star -Adviser, “Given the remaining choices, like Bernie Sanders, I will be casting my vote for Hillary Clinton”. Still, as she has often done during her career, Clinton attributed much of her low standing on this issue to attacks from Republicans.
“We have no knowledge of this and it’s a question for their campaign”, the aide said.
Trump’s moves came after many Republicans urged the candidate to correct course following a tumultuous week.
Ryan, for his part, has been critical of Trump’s feud with the Khans, whose Army captain son died fighting in the Iraq war in 2004.
Clinton and her running mate, Tim Kaine, have been traveling the country to discuss their jobs agenda, including a three-day bus tour across the Rust Belt following the Democratic National Convention.

Pence was chosen partially to help calm nervous Republicans still on the fence about Trump and to bring some establishment sensibility to the ticket.
