Sarah Paulson Brings Marcia Clark As Her Date to the Emmys

“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” won a number of Emmy awards Sunday, but there was one victor who didn’t take the stage: Marcia Clark, the prosecutor in the Simpson case. Her big moment took on additional significance as she brought the real-life Clark – who has spoken positively about Paulson’s portrayal – as her date for the evening’s ceremony.

The actress later made it up to her, as Paulson had Clark’s name engraved on her Emmy as well.

Tonight, Kimmel said, “is the night, we come together to celebrate all the fantastic shows we’ll never get around to watching”.

“I am so stunned to be sharing the category with so many extraordinary actresses”, she said, before thanking her own co-stars, whom she called “magicians”.

Paulson is nominated for her role as Clark in FX’s hit series “The People v. O.J. Simpson”.

“I want to shout from the rooftops all the time about how much I love that person, so if I can do it in front of millions of people then why not?”

Fans of the United States star were absolutely giddy on Twitter as they celebrated their “queen” winning her first Emmy. The fantasy saga could break the record it set in 2015 for most wins by a series in a single year, 12: It already earned nine creative arts honors last weekend and is up for five more trophies Sunday. “So I was very, very happy to do it in such a broad way”.

Host Jimmy Kimmel reenacted the famous O.J. Simpson chase down the 405 with Malcolm Jamal Warner, who played Al Cowlings in “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”.

“I feel so lucky to be on a show that puts women at the center”, Maslany said.

At any rate, Paulson’s win was well-deserved and the exchange between her and Taylor has been a joy. ‘It’s because you thought I could’. “Not for you, but for them”, Paulson said. ‘You want to get it right, not for you, but for them. Plus, Paulson and Kathy Bates were nominated for their performances in Murphy’s dreadfully inconsistent series American Horror Story (the Hotel incarnation, which looked extra bad).
