Sarah Silverman Skewers ‘Bernie-or-Bust’ Crowd: ‘You’re Being Ridiculous’
“My hero forever & always”. The New York Times asked if she approached it the way she would approach a heckler, but Silverman said no, explaining that it was “such chaos” that she didn’t really feel like people were yelling specific things at her.

After Silverman’s comments, many cheered, but some of Sanders’ supporters kept chanting his name.
The former “Saturday Night Live” comedian – who’s now a Minnesota senator – jokes that he’s a “world-renowned expert on right-wing megalomaniacs: Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly and now, Donald Trump”.
“To the “Bernie or Bust” people: You’re being ridiculous”, she said.
She then glanced off camera, where she apparently got the signal to keep talking as Franken stood at her side.
“Hillary heard the passion of the people”. It’s a sentiment that even a sound mix that tended to find protesters couldn’t interrupt, and her speech’s relentless focus on Trump as potential role model for American children (all without saying his name!) was artful. “I will vote for Hillary with gusto”.
“Can I just say, to the Bernie-or-bust people, you’re being ridiculous”, she said, to raucous applause.
Silverman went on to say that Trump’s knack for insults and name-calling hinted at serious emotional problems rooted in neglect during his childhood.
Boyz II Men also performed, while Grammy victor Alicia Keys, who founded a social justice organization called We Are Here, appeared on a panel on criminal justice reform and civil rights, hosted by the news site Politico.
Silverman said she thinks the Vermont senator convinced most of his supporters – except “fundamentalists” who are “nutso” – to back Clinton. And the audience, which consists of a fair chunk of Bernie Sanders supporters and delegates, and which has been fairly atrocious to some of the speakers thus far, was atrocious to Silverman.
Onstage at the Democratic National Convention with Sen. They told us to stretch, so I figured I’d add that.
But to choose a racist, misogynistic, xenophobic bigot over Clinton is a bit over the top, don’t you think?

As Silverman struggled to fill airtime while convention performer Paul Simon prepared his set, however, she aimed her acerbic wit at supporters of the candidate she supported during the primaries.
