Sarah Silverman: ‘To the Bernie or Bust People, You Are Being Ridiculous’
Let’s just compare the lineups.

“Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson kicked off the political event followed by “Happy Days” star Scott Baio and former soap opera actor Antonio Sabato Jr.
Franken noted that because he was a Clinton backer and Silverman was with Sanders, they were forming a bridge. She will address delegates on Thursday, the final night of the convention.
Despite the starry roster, however, the first Hollywood presence at the Democratic National Convention on Monday was roundly mocked on social media.
Singer Demi Lovato got personal at the podium, touching on her struggle with mental illness, including eating and bipolar disorders.
“I’m with her”, she said to huge cheers. Bernie Sanders supporters continued to make their presence felt as she spoke.
Silverman had been a Sanders supporter throughout the presidential primary contests. Bernie put his weight behind Hillary, and she made the decision that she would follow his lead.
“Hillary heard the people with the passion behind Bernie and brought those passions into the party’s platform”. “And it’s very cool to see”. “Bernie Bernie!”, and booed her. Silverman, never one to observe common norms, chastised them.
As for the “ridiculous” moment itself, Silverman says it happened because the people backstage told her and Al Franken (who was there to help her introduce Paul Simon) to stretch for a moment, requiring her to go off-book a little. Silverman suggested “Unity! Unity!”
But when Silverman said she was now supporting Clinton as the Democratic nominee, parts of the crowd began chanting, “Bernie!”. “Thank God they can fix this in post [production]”, she joked.

Silverman praised Clinton for moving to the left on a number of issues – largely because of the progressive campaign Sanders, a self-avowed socialist, ran. Because that’s the point: for better or worse, Clinton will most likely be nominated this week and then the decision for president comes down to just her and Trump. The border crossed us”, she said, adding: “When Donald Trump calls us criminals and rapists, he is insulting American families. My father is not a criminal or rapist. He’s succeeded in so many ways, he’s already proven that Citizens United is not necessary.
