Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte: Winner and Reaction from WWE SummerSlam 2016
WWE wasted little time getting to the women’s championship match at tonight’s (Sun., Aug. 21, 2016) SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, as it was the second bout on the PPV portion of the show. Now, they face off in their most high-profile match yet, battling for the WWE Women’s Championship at WWE SummerSlam. With the entire crowd behind her opponent, Boston’s own Sasha Banks, Charlotte accomplished her goals in a shocking ending.

Sasha persevered, though, and she made her return at this year’s Royal Rumble, letting Charlotte know she was coming for the belt.
The rematch started with Banks hitting an early Bank Statement, although Charlotte got out of it in a hurry.
And the match began with a back and forth, with neither woman gaining control. Charlotte took advantage of the miscue to work the back and score some nearfalls.
Sasha found her opening when she reversed a top-rope Razors Edge with a Hurricanrana.
Charlotte would fight back, and it seemed like she had Sasha’s number with Natural Selection, but Sasha reversed into a crossface. Charlotte was left trying to play catchup for a bit, including trying to hit Natural Selection. Charlotte grew frustrated, slapping Charlotte several times. However, Sasha countered into the Bank Statement again. Back in the ring, though, Charlotte was able to assert her physical dominance, particularly after bringing Banks falling down from the top rope. Sasha looked to have injured her back during the match but there has ben no confirmation of it from WWE.

Charlotte was the first to win the NXT Women’s Championship, but The Boss beat her for it before they were both eventually called up to the main roster at the same time last summer.
