Saudi Arabia: 25 dead, 119 injured in Jazan hospital fire
Accusations flew over who was to blame for the deaths of at least 24 people in a Saudi hospital fire, with one official saying a crowd that gathered there had obstructed rescue workers and some Twitter users blaming lax safety standards.

It says an investigation is under way to find out the cause of the blaze.
The blaze broke out in the intensive care department of Jazan Hospital around midnight, Major Yahya al-Qahtani, spokesman of the Civil Defense in Jazan, said. According to Al Arabiya, more than 120 people were injured in the fire.
National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim on Thursday sent a cable of condolences to Chairman of Saudi Shura Council Dr Abdullah Al-Alsheikh on the demise of 25 people and injury of 123 others in the fire that happened at a public hospital in the southwestern city of Jazan.
Some people on Twitter suggested the fire had been the result of official negligence and that the health minister should resign, although the identities of the Twitter accounts could not be verified.
Two weeks earlier, 110 people died in Mecca’s Grand Mosque when a crane working on an expansion project collapsed during a storm, crushing pilgrims below.
The disaster occurred in the intensive care unit and the maternity ward on the first floor of the hospital, Xinhua news agency added.

The blaze has prompted criticism on social media about the “disastrous situation” of hospitals in the region, with calls for the oil-rich kingdom to put more investment into infrastructure.
