Saudi-led airstrikes reportedly kill 11 civilians in Yemen

The report said the death toll was expected to rise because some of the wounded were in critical condition. The postings and SABA’s report could not be independently verified because of difficulties reaching witnesses in the remote area.

The attack also came as Saudi Arabia claimed that Iran, its regional rival, is supplying Houthis in Yemen with missiles.

The official IRNA news agency quotes Mohammad Javad Zarif on Friday as saying these are “baseless accusations”.

The US backed the Saudi war, and has been conducting refueling operations for the Saudi warplanes bombing Yemen, which have killed thousands of civilians over the past year and a half, and which are fueling increasing worldwide condemnation.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been launching deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia accuses the Houthis of being an Iranian proxy, which the rebels deny.

Yemen researcher at Human Rights Watch Kristine Beckerle told AP that through its continued arms sales to Saudi Arabia, the U.S.

The retaliatory attack took place on Friday, hitting targets in Saudi Arabia’s Jizan region and causing considerable damage to the Aramco facilities there, Yemen’s al-Masirah television reported. The border violence has killed several civilians and Saudi border guards.

Zarif, speaking from Chile, said Kerry’s remarks show the USA government is “an accomplice in Saudi war crimes against the innocent people of Yemen”.
