Saudi-led coalition says it seized Iran arms bound for Yemen

The U.S.is providing logistical support to the coalition.

Representatives of the AFHR and the YCMHRV also reiterated their rejection of the western countries’ request to establish a fact finding committee, which they said would dilute and ignore what they termed a human tragedy fomented by the rebel militias.

As part of the campaign, Saudi-led naval forces have imposed a near-blockade to prevent weapons supplies from reaching the Houthis, resulting in long delays and mandatory searches for shippers in the region.

The coalition says in a statement released Wednesday that the seizure took place on Saturday a few 241 kilometers (150 miles) southeast of the Omani port of Salalah. A Dutch diplomat declined comment, and the USA and Saudi ambassadors did not immediately respond to text messages and emails seeking comment.

The Saudi-backed Yemeni government and forces loyal to its internationally recognized president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, have been embroiled in deadly clashes with the Houthis, who gained control of large swathes of the Middle Eastern country earlier this year.

Pictures printed on the front pages of Gulf dailies showed the foreign troops and local tribesmen planting the flags of the UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia over the dam. She said that today, in rebel-held areas, women suffer greatly at the hands of the Houthi militia and Saleh group, with widespread murders, forced disappearances, kidnappings, deprivation of basic educational and health services, bombardment of residential districts, and other atrocities targeting them in the capital Sana’a, Aden and other cities.

Six months of civil war and hundreds of coalition air strikes have killed more than 5,400 people in Yemen, according to the United Nations, and exacerbated already widespread hunger and suffering.

On Monday, locals said two missiles struck tents in the Red Sea village of al-Wahga, where a man affiliated with the Houthis was holding his wedding reception, the news agency reported.
