According to the report, airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition were responsible for 60 percent of the 2,067 civilians killed in the conflict over a year-long span starting on July 1, 2015.
The Arab coalition has also stepped up its air raids in Yemen since the peace talks collapsed.
“Undoubtedly, Mr. Kerry knows better than others that the Saudi government in the past year and half has consistently and seriously blocked all efforts made to establish a ceasefire in Yemen”.
The strikes came a day after the United Nations demanded an worldwide investigation in the killings of civilians in Yemen.
“We managed to come out with a vision related to a roadmap for Yemen, which the United Nations envoy had discussed with us so there will be clarity on the final settlement which the United Nations envoy will discuss with the Yemeni parties”, Jubeir told the news conference.
US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday, 25 August, announced a new peace initiative to resume the Yemen peace talks, giving the Houthi rebels a chance to participate in the country’s unity government and solve a complex 17-month conflict.
After Reuters filed the report, Pentagon spokesman Adam Stump said in a statement that, “Even as we assist the Saudis regarding their territorial integrity, it does not mean that we will refrain from expressing our concern about the war in Yemen and how it has been waged”.
Since the conflict flared with Saudi Arabia’s entry, 3,799 civilians have been killed and 6,711 injured, according to the U.N. More than 7.6 million people are now suffering from malnutrition and at least three million people have been forced to flee their homes.
Instead, the announcement of a new plan was greeted by rocket attacks from Al Houthi forces that struck well over the border, hitting a power station in Saudi Arabia.
Kerry wrote on Twitter that he and the King discussed the “need to reach a political solution (and) address the humanitarian crisis in Yemen”, as well as the war in Syria and the fight against the Daesh.
The US diplomat also met separately with his Omani counterpart, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, on Thursday morning before attending a lunch with GCC foreign ministers.
