#SaveTwitter: No, Twitter is not shutting down in 2017

That panic also seemed to have struck Reuters, who reached out to Twitter for comment through email, after which a spokesperson replied that these claims and rumors were absolutely baseless. It was reported that the social media site would be shutting down in early 2017 because of cyberbullying. It’s unclear where the news started, but the tweets about it have been pouring in thick and fast.

People criticized the Twitter for not doing enough to police abusive behavior on the messaging service.

Last month, Twitter permanently suspended a number of user accounts for harassment, including that of Breitbart tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos, vowing to redouble efforts to thwart abusive behavior and block repeat offenders from the social media site. In fact, Twitter has already confirmed to The Independent that these rumors are false, so there’s really no need to worry.

Twitter has recently been having a hard time of it, and news also emerged earlier this week that the company had put up nearly one-third of the office space in its San Francisco headquarters up for rent.

Many users claimed that the reason behind shut down move was the recent criticism against Twitter over the presence of bullying trollers.
