Parents are being warned that a person dressed as a clown has been spotted attempting to lure young children into woods near a residential area.
In response to the reports, the apartment sent out a letter reminding residents to keep their kids safe by not walking alone in the woods at night.
“First and foremost at Fleetwood Manor Apartments childrens (sic) safety is a top priority”, the letter reads.
The letter explains that children should not be allowed out alone at night. Greenville County Police Department is aware of the situation and have been riding property daily.
Greenville County deputies say they have increased patrols at Fleetwood Manor Apartments after receiving two complaints about a clowns behaving strangely in the area.
Probably not. The person responsible for this behavior is probably just some creep who thinks it’s amusing to dress up like a clown and freak people out.
“I thought my child was seeing things”, she said.
“Anymore information that comes regarding this issue will be sent out to all residents”.
A resident reported “a suspicious character, dressed in circus clown attire and white face paint, enticing kids to follow him/her into the woods”, according to a police report.
Police were called to the complex by mum Donna Arnold, who says that her son was among those who reported seeing clowns behind the basketball court.

“That’s why am over here, to make sure law enforcement is doing something because we’ve have about 2-300 children out here and I want to make sure that law enforcement is doing the right thing”, he said. As of today’s date, there has been one incident report filed with our office regarding this. They also claimed the “clowns” lived in a home near the property.
