Scalebound Will Let You Customize Your Dragon’s Attacks, Armor, and More

With such a wide variety of customisation options Platinum hopes that every player will be able to create a dragon that perfectly fits their playstyle. These types are connected in an evolutionary circle and by using gems at a dragon shrine, players will be able to blend both their physical and visual attributes, whether it’s the strength of the Tank or the swiftness of the Wyvern.

You can even make our personal favorite – fat Rex. These are permanent buffs (you are changing the dragon’s DNA, after all) that alter the physical appearance and boost the elemental characteristics of Thuban (you’ll see an example below). Parts make a dragon’s offensive traits stronger, while armor helps out on defense.

Appearing in Berserker Mode, which is like Dragon Form for Dragons (worst name ever™), you can imagine these parts as organic and animalistic extensions of Thuban’s body. Additional customizations are available, including some that will change the look of one’s dragon. Morphing lets you combine the types together by using gems at dragon shrines. Also unlike other modifications, armor can break.

The final part of dragon DNA is armor, which is forged by humans. You’ll be able to fix armor after fights, but if you leave it alone too long, don’t be surprised if it snaps in two. Drew can essentially link up his mind with the dragon and take direct control.

Once you’ve set up Thuban to match your play style, how does this resonate in combat?

Dragon Link is very basic at the start, but can be upgraded by levelling up Drew or customising Thuban. However, just like Bran Drew is also very much vulnerable to attacks during Dragon Link. All it takes is a button press to activate this mode, though you need to be careful, as Drew is defenseless while Dragon Link is active.

Xbox One exclusive Scalebound has seen some ups and downs throughout its development, with its first reveal at E3 2014 causing it to become a highly anticipated title for many fans based off its awesome graphics alone. But while the game’s big dragons certainly got the attention of Xbox fans for a while, no one was sure how Scalebound would actually play. These pieces of armor are purchased with currency you earn from playing through Scalebound.
