According to Variety, a character inspired by the GOP presidential front-runner will be featured this week (tonight / 03-17-16) on the hit ABC show.
If there is one thing that has always been at the core of “Scandal”, it is that Olivia Pope tries to fix the problems of people who need some help … provided that the price is right.
When asked how the current political climate has influenced the Scandal writers this season, showrunner Shonda Rhimes revealed that she’s actually had to change some of the show’s storylines after watching the real-life debates.
At a PaleyFest screening of a new episode Tuesday night, Variety reports that, indeed, “the larger-than-life presidential hopeful” would be fictionalized and that the actor would be someone who has already appeared on the show.
Do not read ahead if you have not watched “Scandal’s” March 17 episode, titled “I See You”.
Michael Kovac/Getty Images for Paley Center “If you think the debates you’ve seen in the real world are fun…” star Kerry Washington said during PaleyFest.
The presidential race on Scandal is going to get a visit from Donald Trump – well, sorta.
“It was very odd”. “It’s interesting to me that her primary story is a romance”.
Thankfully, Young says Mellie is up for whatever challenge comes her way. “Three highway patrol men came through and then nine secret service agents and then I saw Huma [Abedin, Clinton’s aide], and I was like, ‘I know her!’ Then I saw Hillary in this green [outfit]”. Who do you think the character could be?
Will Olivia Pope ever get back together with President Fitz on Scandal? “This wasn’t some order from above”, she said about working apart from Pompeo, Davis and Rhimes.
“Scandal”, the ABC political drama, is gearing up for its fictional election season, which may emulate the current election goings-on.

The EP continued, “For Olivia, the breaking free of that, while painful, was the first step toward realizing that she was not who she was meant to be”. We’re also going to see Olivia contemplating at what lengths she’ll go to to clean up Mellie’s public problem, and more. Rhimes went on to add that Olivia’s father, while evil, represents a lot of truth for Olivia.
