The bus had just picked up team members from Legacy High School of suburban Denver Sunday afternoon and was circling back to the airport when it crashed.

The players were returning from a game against Chino Hills High School in California, according to Jacob Ramsey.

KUSA reports that the bus is from Legacy High School, which is in Broomfield and is part of Adams 12 Five Star Schools. Heath Montgomery, the Airport spokesman, gave details about the bus at around 4:00 p.m. impending the terminus area on the fourth level of the east terminal when it swung into a support bridge.

The driver died in the accident.

The Adams 12 School District said in a statement that 15 students were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, adding that three coaches riding in the front of the bus were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Students at a suburban Denver high school where a school bus driver was killed and high school football players and staffers injured Sunday resumed classes Monday.

As of late Sunday, authorities had not released any of the bus driver’s medical history. “So at this point, she should not have been coming back up but did and then ran off the right side of the roadway, struck one of the upright pillars”.

Officials with Denver Health told FOX31 they have five patients at their hospital – two in critical condition, two in serious condition, and one person is in fair condition.

“We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family of our bus driver who tragically passed away”, another Adams 12 tweet read.
