School celebrates Queen’s 90th birthday
Presbyterian moderator Dr Ian McNie has described The Queen as “a constant in our time” and praised her devoted service to the nation – and to “the One who is King of Kings” – in a letter congratulating Her Majesty on her 90th birthday.

In other events on Thursday, the Royal Navy will fire a 21-gun salute from Fort Blockhouse at Gosport, at midday.
Celebrations are taking place in schools, care homes and gardens across the region and the country today as members of the public help Her Majesty the Queen mark her 90th birthday.
“I am also very proud to be playing a leading role in Telford’s ceremony to mark the occasion by lighting a symbolic beacon to mark this happy event”.
In London, the Queen, will be joined by The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to light a special Beacon at Windsor Castle.
Addressing the Commons, the Prime Minister will lead MPs in the celebrations, highlighting the “extraordinary times” during the Queen’s long reign.
“For me as a woman, a mother, a Christian and a leader she provides such a good example of how to live one’s life”.
At the far north of the district, beacons will be lit on moorland near the Big Stone – an Ice Age boulder – near Bentham at 8pm, at Bowland Knotts, Clapham at dusk and on Ingleton Sports Field at 7.30pm, where family entertainment will be on offer. “This is a fantastic opportunity for communities to get together and celebrate our remarkable Queen”. “They will light the gas lance with which the beacon is lit”.
He said: “I called through to [my wife] Joy and said ‘I’ve had a letter from my twin!’ I am looking forward to it – it’s taken me 90 years to become a VIP!”
To add to this, Isle of Man Post Office is sending a personal birthday message to the Queen, Lord of Mann.

The residents, along with relatives and staff members, are having a tea party today with royally-themed cakes and Union Flag decorations.
