School choir surprises teacher battling cancer with ‘I’m Gonna Love You

He told FOX411: “She is truly one of the most awesome not only teachers but human beings I have ever met”. “She’s one of the unsung heroes, and it was time for her to be sung to”.

Students dedicated the Martina McBride cancer survivor anthem “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” in honor of their teacher Adriana Lopez.

Country singer Martina McBride released the song, which is about a 38-year-old woman who is supported by her husband while battling breast cancer, in 2011. If you listen to their covers of Adele, Katy Perry or Fleetwood Mac, you’ll see just why Lopez had a wad of tissues at the ready. “Lisa [Kochman, who filmed the video] and I felt the kids were up to the emotional and physical challenge of bringing that song to life for her as a gesture of support for Adriana’s extreme dedication to her students”. They’re a great bunch of children and a great school. I couldn’t contain myself.

You can tell how flawless the song selection really is by Mrs. Lopez’s reaction, which pretty much mirrors our own reaction watching the video: crying, sobbing and more crying.

“She got her diagnosis midway through this school year”.

“She would laugh off the pain she is going through”.

For the PS22 chorus, which Breinberg started in 2000, fame is nothing new.

Watch their entire performance above. Yet, Breinberg said he didn’t anticipate the kind of response his newest video has received.
