According to Sparta Business Administrator and Board Secretary Barbara Decker the district received 23 applications by the Sept 12 deadline. The new superintendent will succeed Lori White as superintendent of schools; she is scheduled to retire February 28.
The Exeter School Board voted unanimously to ratify a new four-year contract with the district’s teachers union at its meeting Tuesday night.
During Tuesday evening’s voting meeting, the school board unanimously made a decision to approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the board and the Exeter Township Education Association.
Members of the public are invited to attend the October 12 interviews.
“The board [of education] will begin interviewing candidates recommended by the Search Committee”, Decker said, “with the intent of appointing a candidate at the October 24 regularly scheduled meeting”.
The school board will also be holding private interviews on October 13 ahead of its final vote on October 18. The Education Foundation of Sarasota County is also hosting a public reception for the candidates on October 13. Participants in the reception will be invited to write their impressions of the candidates on response cards that will be presented to the Board members before they make the final selection of the new superintendent. He said it’s important for the board when they meet afterward to weigh each candidate in choosing the next one. The information from the forums and the survey were shared with the applicants for the position, with members of the committee that helped screened the applications, and with the School Board.
The School Board is expected to appoint the new superintendent at its regular October 18 meeting, scheduled for 3 p.m.in the School Board chambers.
The other three finalists all come from Florida school districts.
