School officials in Miami and Fort Lauderdale haven’t released details about the threats but said on their websites they were similar to those received in NY and Los Angeles.

They also are not aware of any other threats directed to the Ellensburg School District. The district is being told by law enforcement that it’s “very similar in tone” to the threat made against LAUSD, Hickman said.

Authorities said the message described bombs hidden on multiple campuses and said armed jihadi fighters would storm schools.

Police said Long Beach schools will remain on their usual schedules Thursday. He says so far everything is normal Thursday and kids are in school.

Districts in Orlando, Florida, and Long Beach, California, have joined the list of school systems that received email threats that were deemed to be “less than credible”.

Orange County Public Schools on Thursday said it received a threatening email similar to ones received in school districts in Los Angeles, New York, Houston and Miami.

It was later deemed a hoax, along with a almost identical threat made to New York City schools, which remained open Tuesday as the LA district closed.

Danville Police Chief William Wright said a third threat was posted on social media early Thursday, and it was apparently tied to the threat against Plainfield schools.

Michael Dorn, executive director of Safe Havens International, a non-profit school safety organization, urges schools to work in advance with police and fire services to determine plans of action while also conducting simulations of potentially violent scenarios. Some students even joked that they would have preferred school closing on Friday so that they could go to the premiere of the new Star Wars film.

Law enforcement officers were making sweeps of schools in Houston to ensure student safety.

Sainz, however, says she’s still worried and is anxious about sending her fourth-grader back when classes resume January 4.

Wright said they began an investigation, and arrested first, a freshman Danville student Wednesday evening.
