The German global was believed to be on his way out of the club this window, but released an official statement claiming Man United would be the last European club he’d play for.

Schweinsteiger joined United last summer from Bayern but he struggled for form and fitness and didn’t feature too regularly under Louis van Gaal. “I’m not saying it’s impossible”, he said.
“I’m not saying it’s impossible, I’m saying its very hard because we have made a decision made about [Paul] Pogba, [Ander] Herrera, [Morgan] Schneiderlin, [Marouane] Fellaini and [Michael] Carrick”.
Mourinho said: “I can not answer for him”. It’s his life. It’s his career. So I made the decision to play with 23 players and two goalkeepers, which is a lot. I’ve done that throughout my career.
“Some players react in a different way and have different kinds of decisions”. He gave his last statement which he is completely free to do in an objective and polite way. I respect other clubs, but Manchester United was the only one which could make me leave FC Bayern München.
“I am quite surprised that Mr Rummennigge is not here”.
Mourinho is believed to see a future for Jones at the club but he is unlikely to play frequently as Southampton defender Jose Fonte has also been linked with a move to United.
United manager Jose Mourinho has told the player he is not in his plans, and the club seems to be finding it hard to get rid of the player and his wage bill.
Ex-United assistant boss Mike Phelan is the man now in charge, and Mourinho feels he deserves to be given the job full-time.
