Scion C-HR Crossover Concept Debuts in Los Angeles
For now, we’ve got live photos of the Scion C-HR crossover concept, free charging for certain Ford C-Max Energi owners, and a report that the production version of the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV will debut at CES in January.

Considering how much Toyota wants to tease us with the conceptual renditions of this crossover, and how the adventurous design divides opinion, it is as if they want us to dare them to put it into production. The participants chose pictures of “sleek chopsticks made from recycled materials, an earthy but modern terrarium, and a cutting board with grid lines for precise slicing.” Yes.
When the designers for the Scion C-HR Concept began their research, they were told by young urban creative customers, “Polarizing is ok. Boring is not.” That sentiment was evident today as the Scion C-HR Concept had its World Debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Contrast comes from the flowing lower body, which Scion dubs “sensual” and says instills “strong emotions”.
The C-HR’s roof is painted piano black, while the CUV’s grille, rear bumper, fender flares and lower side panels use graphite-black accents.
The all new crossover will be underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) shared with the new generation Prius and this means it could also feature the hybrid powertrain from its cousin. The athletic profile supports a higher riding position, although the concept sits particularly high on 21-inch wheels.
Particularly eye-catching are the C-HR’s 21-in. wheels, whose spokes have chiseled cut-outs furthering the diamond theme.
The increased body rigidity reduces body movement and roll in cornering.

“Even though the C-HR has a high ride height, our focus was on creating a fantastic urban driving vehicle”, said C-HR chief engineer Hiro Koba, in a release.
