Scores line up for Trump Vermont event in Sanders’ hometown
There were plenty of Trump supporters, and protesters in attendance. Isn’t this more exciting?

Trump, of course, was referring to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, among his opponents in the 2016 presidential race. Bernie! Bernie!” As about half a dozen protesters were walked out, Trump’s supporters responded “Trump!
It’s not a surprise to say that Donald Trump was all over the news on Thursday-that happens every day.
Almost 20,000 tickets were given away for a Donald Trump rally Thursday night in Vermont. “Come on, security, go faster”.
The Trump campaign issued more than 18,000 tickets for the 1,400-seat venue, but only about 2,000 showed up to get in, according to Burlington police Chief Brandon del Pozo. We need the guns, he told the crowd.
Nelson hinted there may an ulterior motive to Trump’s decision to hold a rally in Burlington, other than swaying likely voters: Generating attention. There are the obvious Bernie ilk, who shed their winter jackets to display Sanders campaign shirts.
But Trump is here nonetheless, followed by a throng of reporters and photographers and met by a slew of mostly-liberal protesters who have called him a fascist, a racist and a fearmongerer. They were removed from the theater. He struggled with police, telling them he was a Trump supporter as he was escorted out of the Flynn. He told a story he said was related to him by Boston Herald columnist Howie Carr about a New Hampshire woman who defended herself against a criminal. “They said Trump was weak”. And they do get good ratings for these speeches, but she watches on television. “You have to”, he said.
“It’s actually really heartbreaking”, he said.
“I can’t stand the guy”, Conrad said of Trump.
“I knew I was going to have some in Vermont”, he mused.
He mentioned Sanders a few times during the rally, at one point mocking the senator for allowing two Black Lives Matter activists to publicly interrupt him and take over his microphone. Another left the theater while throwing up a middle finger.
Trump was quick to react as his speech was being interrupted. “But, they’re so rude”, he added. “Guess who wins?” Sanders tweeted back, including a link to a recent Quinnipiac poll that had Sanders winning handily in a general election matchup against Trump. Trump repeatedly said. “Pretty soon they’re [his security] going to get so nasty, that we will not have any protests”.
“You know Howie Carr”.
Perhaps that’s exactly what Trump wanted though; why else would an intelligent person offer such a ridiculous number of tickets merely to ensure all seats are filled?
Other people were not as quiet about it. Supporters and protesters shouted at each other across the street several times, with people yelling “take your hate out of our state!” “Donald Trump, go away”.
