The long rumoured Sony PS4 Neo has finally been revealed to be the PlayStation 4 Pro, capable of 4K gameplay resolutions along with HDR, something that Microsoft has promised with its Xbox Scorpion project slated to release next year.

The PS4 Pro will provide gamers with more detailed graphics, visual enhancements for HDTV users and will feature streaming services, including YouTube and Netflix, according to KEF Media. For example, Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry confirmed today that checkerboard rendering is one of the custom features built in the custom AMD Polaris based PS4 Pro GPU and it will be available to developers at no performance cost.

Sony unveiled the PS4 Pro and the PS4 Slim at an event in NY this week. That said, he still thinks there are strong benefits to releasing the PS4 Pro now with HDR support, one of which being greater support for PSVR and its games. It’s a bold step, and Sony showed off some impressive PS4 Pro-powered game footage during their event, but fan reaction to the new machine has been decidedly mixed.

Your initial reaction to the PlayStation 4 Pro is probably a strong one to follow.

Meanwhile, Sony also announced the new PS 4 Pro will be compliant with all games now existing or those coming in the future.

Microsoft announced Project Scorpio at E3 2016 with 4K and HDR support out of the box.

The PS4 Pro will launch on November 10 for $399.

The press conference also took some time to “unveil” the PS4 Slim, a slightly smaller version of the current hardware that has been out in the wild for a couple of weeks now after a series of retailer leaks overseas.
