Scotland Yard to assess contents of Altaf Hussain speech
A day after Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain’s diatribe against the country, the Pakistan-based leadership of the party on Tuesday distanced itself from his comments and made a decision to strip him of organisational powers for an indefinite period. His ensuing critique of Pakistani media sparked the attack on the television channel’s office, which resulted in one death and numerous injuries.

Senator Rehman Malik of PPP has strongly condemned Altaf Hussain’s anti Pakistan statement, reported Waqt News.
Treason case has been registered against MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
For more than two decades, Hussain has addressed supporters through a loudspeaker linked to his London home telephone. “The MQM can not afford to suffer this damage time and time again”, he said, explaining what he claimed was a party decision to take control away from Hussain.
Hussain issued an apology Tuesday for his comments. Barrister Waheed said that protests will be held outside 10 Downing Street and Altaf Hussain’s house until he is arrested and charged with incitement to violence in Pakistan. Its supporters have staged violent protests and clashed with political rivals and police in the past.
“From the depth of my heart, I beg pardon for my remarks against Pakistan, the establishment, including General Raheel Sharif and DG Rangers”, Mr. Hussain said in a statement posted on Twitter. The protesters accused the media of failing to cover a hunger strike protesting the recent arrest of party members.
While addressing a press conference at his Bani Gala residence Imran Khan said that the language Altaf Hussain has used does not represent the aspirations of Urdu speaking community.
Mr Hussain does not have any formal office in the party and the MQM is registered in Farooq Sattar’s name with the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The imprisoned politician who is nearly certain to be the next mayor of Pakistan’s largest and richest city of Karachi will run the teeming metropolis via “video link” from his prison cell, his lawyer said on Wednesday.
