Will Power is on a nice roll lately, winning four of the last seven IndyCar races, while finishing second in two others.

“Although I got the most from the package today, there’s still more to find in the vehicle that I hope we can tap into in the race”. “The thrill of watching these cars battle on our road course, combined with the unparalleled backdrop of Wine Country and the San Francisco Bay Area adds up to an incredible weekend for fans, visitors, sponsors and everyone who follows and supports the series”.

“These cars belong on tracks like this”, said three-time Indy vehicle champion Bobby Rahal.

“Really happy with qualifying, especially when you take into account how things were for us this morning”, Wehrlein said.

“So far, I think some people could call this a breakout year for me”, said Pagenaud. And he dominated the race, leading 50 of the 60 laps. Dixon averaged a little over 142 miles per hour for his best lap in June at Road America. Dario Franchitti’s pole lap at Road America in 2000 corresponds to a 145.924 miles per hour average. You’re still driving the vehicle.

“Outside of Indianapolis, this is the natural habitat for Indy cars”, Franchitti said. “Just the rapport that I have with him is great he’s always a very personable driver, very fun driver, amusing and a great driver”, Kohne said. It was Dixon’s second pole of the season and 25th of his career, tying him with Paul Tracy for 11th all-time, as he eclipsed Ryan Briscoe’s track record by more than five seconds in a penalty-filled affair.

Point leader Simon Pagenaud clipped a tire barrier as practice concluded.

For the second consecutive year, Sonoma Raceway will host the Verizon IndyCar Series season finale at the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma, Sept. 16-18.

But Pagenaud entered the day with a 28-point lead, and he increased it. Power’s come-from-behind charge to the title in 2014 was one of the exceptions. We can’t extract any performance out of them. “It’s our best qualifying position of the season, so we’ll take it”. Then, in 1983, Corning Enterprises, a subsidiary of Corning Glass, partnered with International Speedway Corporation to buy the track and rename it Watkins Glen International.
