Scott family calls for calm in Charlotte
The family said they couldn’t say what was in his hands when he was killed. His friends and relatives, however, say that he was just holding a book.

Charlotte Police Chief Kerr Putney agreed to let Scott’s family watch those tapes, but refuses to share it publicly.
The lawyer said at a news conference earlier in the day that Scott’s wife saw him get shot, “and that’s something she will never, ever forget”.
“That is what the chief says”. I haven’t seen any evidence. Feel free to speak up against the things you see as injustice, feel free to do that because that is your right.
Two employees at a hotel were also hurt, WNCN said. Cops continue to say he had a gun, but his family says it was a book. Bamberg said the family members were too grief-stricken to attend; they are “still grieving the loss of their loved one”.
An emergency was also declared in the U.S. city on Wednesday after nights of unrest following yet another fatal police shooting of a black man in the country.
Police spokesperson, Keith Trietley, said that 26-year-old Justin Carr had died in hospital and added that a homicide investigation had been launched. They’re still seeking witnesses.
During demonstrations on Wednesday in response to the shooting, protesters clashed with police and media covering the event.
Officer Brentley Vinson, who was identified as the person who shot Scott, was in plainclothes and was not wearing a body camera, local authorities have said. No arrests have been made.
Protesters in Charlotte who spilled onto an interstate highway were pushed back by police officers using tear gas late Thursday.
“My plan is to have my people ready, we are”, Chief Kerr Putney said Wednesday morning. He says police will have a greater presence, tonight. National Guard troops helped city police maintain order after the governor declared a state of emergency.
A long series of controversial fatal police shootings of black men across the United States has sparked more than two years of protests asserting racial bias and excessive force by police and giving rise to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Here’s the statement released Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, by Justin Bamberg, a lawyer for the family of Keith Lamont Scott.
The family of a black man shot to death by police in Charlotte, North Carolina, earlier this week Thursday said police video of the incident left them with more questions than answers. The family wants answers, “the family deserves answers”.
“When taking in the totality of all the other evidence, it supports what we’ve heard and the version of the truth that we gave about the circumstances that happened that led to the death of Mr. Scott”, Chief Putney said.

The protests began on Tuesday night, following Mr Scott’s death.
