Scott hopes All-Star Game opens doors when career is over
That’s what Scott says an National Hockey League representative called him to say in an effort to squash his fan-driven All-Star campaign. “I’m sure it was a great experience for him this whole week”.

The people spoke up for Scott once again Sunday night, making the career journeyman enforcer an NHL All-Star most valuable player as a write-in candidate – after voting him into the new three-on-three All-Star tournament as captain of the Pacific Division team.
It was overwhelmingly directed at the poster child of the NHL’s marquee weekend, John Scott.
The NHL changed the format after last year’s All-Star Game featured 92 shots and a combined 29 goals for the biggest offensive display in the showcase’s 60-year history.
“I’m not going to lie to you”, he said.
Bettman’s contract is extended • Gary Bettman said his relationship with the union has never been better.
“For what it’s worth, I think the fact that they had the big guy in there created excitement”, Julien said after the Bruins returned to the ice for their first post-All-Star break practice. Kris Letang opened the scoring to put Metro up 1-0.
Scott added extra spice to the All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday night and then he upstaged every other star in Sunday’s All-Star tournament in which he scored a couple of goals, was named MVP and was carried on the ice by happy teammates. Anaheim’s Corey Perry scored the only goal, 13:38 into the 20-minute game.
Not having made the All-Star Game since the 2012 season, Quick has been stellar in 32 games started thus far, winning 22 of those and losing ten; one of which came in extra time. He was traded from Arizona to Montreal and was sent down to the minors. He scored twice during Pacific’s semifinal game against Central, including his first goal 47 seconds into the game on his first shift, leading his team to a 9-6 win, according to CBC. He returns to Newfoundland in Canada with lots of prizes after fans took it upon themselves to vote for Scott over the three finalists offered by the league’s hockey operations – Luongo, Calgary’s Johnny Gaudreau or Edmonton’s Taylor Hall.
The hype grew when Scott stole the show Sunday in Nashville, earning all-star MVP honours. He pumped up his team with his leadership and that, ultimately, is what won the game for the Pacific team.
“This is like a dream”, said Scott’s wife, Danielle, who is nine months pregnant with twins.
As it was, John said he wasn’t trying to get her too worked up during the game. “I have a ton of respect for guys like him”. Kane has been the league’s best player, but he would rather be part of the league’s best team yet again. “I can’t even believe this is happening”.
“I didn’t think you should be here …” It’s so nice, because people don’t get to see who he really is.
“The fans have been unbelievable”, Scott said after the tournament’s conclusion.
The Kings have hosted the NHL All-Star Game three times, once at the Staples Center in 2002 and once when they played at The Forum in 1981.

Last week, Scott claimed in an article for The Players Tribune that a representative of the National Hockey League tried to talk him out of playing, asking, “Do you think this is something your kids would be proud of?”
