Scott Weiland’s Bassist Arrested for Cocaine Possession
And that is if you asked me who I truly believed were the great voices of our generation, I’d say it were he, Layne and Kurt. “You were gifted beyond words”. – Reuters picWeiland, known for his growling vocals and shock of dyed red hair, came to symbolise the early 1990s grunge era as lead singer and lyricist for the Stone Temple Pilots. The band’s 1992 debut album, “Core”, was an insta-hit and sold 8 million units.

“The story’s not finished”, Weiland told The Associated Press at the time.
Cocaine was found inside the tour bus bedroom where former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland died Thursday – prompting the arrest of one of his bandmates on drug charges, Minnesota police said Friday. STP resumed with Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, though he parted ways with the band last month.
On Friday, the Bloomington Police Department issued a statement, revealing that evidence collected in the warrant included “a small quantity of suspected controlled substance that field tested positive as cocaine” inside the bedroom where he was found. The stimulant was also reportedly found in his bandmate Thomas Delton Black’s bedroom. Citing audio communications between the Bloomington, Minn., Police Dept. and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department, TMZ reported that dispatchers “conveyed the musician appeared to have gone into cardiac arrest”.
“The guy has just been battling addiction and it’s sad to hear that he passed”, Raskob said.

He got his start as a rocker in Southern California and met future Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo at a punk show in Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles Times. In 1995, he was arrested after deputies found him carrying crack and heroin.
