Scottish football legend Denis Law rushed to hospital after airport collapse

Manchester United legend Denis Law is recovering at home after collapsing on board an aeroplane and subsequently being rushed to hospital.

The 76-year-old, who also had two spells at Manchester City, was bound for Menorca from Manchester Airport with his wife but had to be taken to a local hospital after fainting before take-off.

Law was treated at Trafford General Hospital but was sent to his home in Altrincham with the all-clear with doctors attributing the collapse to a vasovagal condition.

The 76-year-old former striker, who is idolised at Old Trafford as “The King”, told how he suddenly felt faint then slumped over in his seat ahead of a family holiday.

“I went white and did not feel well at all”, said Law in The Sun.

He said that the incident had been “not pleasant” and that he planned to head out for the holiday soon.

Law scored 237 goals in 11 years at United.

“One time I though I had snuffed it”.

The honour was handed out for services to football and charity, having been a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK and a patron for the Meningitis Now charity.
