Sturgeon said a second indyref was “highly likely” in the wake of the Brexit vote but has since toned down her rhetoric and pledged to examine all other options.

She told Mandy Rhodes, the author of a new book, Scottish National Party Leaders, that instead of dealing with her grief at home she attended on January 3 2011 the 40th anniversary of the Ibrox disaster, in which 66 Rangers football supporters were crushed to death.
“It is anger at an SNP government which has both broken its word and chose to put its own narrow political interests before those of the wider country”.
The Scottish First Minister has now spoken publicly about her agony after she lost the baby in the early stages of her pregnancy in 2011. “Well, I beg to differ”, she said.
“The single biggest economic lever that the SNP could pull right now to help the country grow would be to remove the threat of a second referendum”, Ms Davidson said.
Ruth Davidson has accused the SNP Government of allowing “the lead weight of separatism” to drag Scotland backwards. That is stifling investment in our firms.
“It’s expected that this Programme for Government will focus on the economy, and as the First Minister herself has said action on climate change is a massive economic opportunity for Scotland”.
A spokesman said: “It was Ruth Davidson who promised that “No means we stay” in the European Union and she should be apologising for the mess her party has now created with Brexit”.
It comes after Scotland voted largely in favour of remaining in the European Union, while much of England and Wales voted to leave.
He said: “It is disappointing that, days before laying a legislative agenda before the most powerful Scottish Parliament ever”. She announced a three-year £500m Scottish Growth Scheme to provide investment guarantees and loans of up to £5m for smaller companies, and a further £100m acceleration of infrastructure projects, with £4bn due to be spent in public capital projects next year.
“This is a half-billion pound vote of confidence in Scottish business, Scottish workers and the Scottish economy”.
Miss Sturgeon’s intention to keep the focus exclusively on “bread and butter” matters will hinge on whether her programme for government contains a bill for another referendum.
Ms Sturgeon, however, believes that support for succession has increased as the consequences of Brexit are increasingly becoming clear.
Labour now find themselves in third place behind the Conservatives.
“The First Minister needs to be clear about what she wants to achieve as Britain faces the prospect of Brexit”. “The measures we will implement over the next five years constitute a comprehensive approach to tackling that”. The Scottish Government would create a benefits system based on “dignity and respect”, she added.
Victory in a second independence referendum would be the only way of possibly retaining membership as an independent member state. One, entirely theirs, saw them vote to narrowly stay part of the United Kingdom.
