Scottish nurse with Donegal connections being treated for “ebola complications”

The BBC is reporting today that a Scottish nurse who contracted Ebola last Christmas has been readmitted to hospital.

Professor Paul Cosford, medical director at Public Health England, said the Scottish health authorities will be following up on a number of close contacts of Ms Cafferkey’s as a precaution.

Martin Deahl, a doctor who had sat next with Ms Cafferkey on her flight back from Sierra Leone, slammed the quarantine procedures at London’s Heathrow Airport, calling them “confused” and the screening process “chaotic”.

She was kept in an isolation unit at the Royal Free for nearly a month at the beginning of this year.

She was diagnosed on 29 December previous year, after returning to Glasgow via London.

“She will now be treated in isolation in the hospital’s high level isolation unit under nationally agreed guidelines”, it said. She was discharged in January after seemingly making a full recovery.

“She will likely at the moment b e helped alone within the hospital’s great deal exclusion equipment beneath domestically arranged recommendations”, it said.

“I just want to go back to my normal job, my normal life and I think my family will be happy with that as well”.

The three counties will have to wait 42 days with no new cases being declared before it can officially be declared “Ebola free”.
