Scranton/WB RailRiders beat El Paso for Triple-A National Championship
Walker Lockett allowed the first three hitters to reach base and score, Austin Hedges drove in El Paso’s only run and the Chihuahuas lost, 3-1, to the RailRiders in the one-game Triple-A championship Tuesday night in Memphis, Tenn.

The national championship is decided in a single game.
It’s a winner-take-all contest starting Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. and televised nationally on NBC Sports Network.
First baseman Chris Parmelee would receive the honors of the game MVP award thanks to his three-run home run in the first inning that would prove to be the RailRiders only runs of the game.
Jordan Montgomery started the game and gave Scranton five dazzling innings giving up only one run.
It was the first homer of the postseason for Parmelee after he belted 11 for the RailRiders in 64 regular-season games.
Mark Payton and new Yankees prospect Clint Frazier both singled and Parmelee homered to right for a 3-0 lead that stood the rest of the way.
The El Paso Chihuahuas closed out their third season in Southwest University Park last Wednesday with a historic win, taking their second straight victory in the best of five series against the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
Following the departure of Montgomery, Johnny Barbato, and Phil Coke combined for three strong innings to keep the game in a save situation for Scranton closer, Giovanny Gallegos.

Major-league veteran Phil Coke followed with two ideal innings before Gallegos tossed a flawless ninth to secure the championship for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
