‘Scream Queens’ Brings More Death as Questions Answered and More Appear
It appears that it’s not only Jonas’ Boone who will be returning from the dead this season of “Scream Queens”. On a more micro level this week, karma bites everyone in the ass. From mother-related backstories (Grace’s) to meta-references (Jamie Lee Curtis’ homage to her IRL mother Janet Leigh’s murder in Psycho) to Denise Hemphill becoming house mother to the Kappas, the M-word was splattered all over this episode like bodily fluids on a midwife’s tarp. Of course, with a week separating her stint in the asylum, she can have a clear head. “Zayday is the killer and that walking jaw-line Grace what’s-her-nuts is in on it…”

After Dean Munsch meets with Grace to discuss the whereabouts of the baby born in the bathtub, she receives a visit from the red-deviled caper. Munsch figured someone would shoot the Red Devil eventually. Munsch takes the most pleasure in pummeling the mystery figure in the Scalia mask. So, Dean Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) keeps her end of the bargain and revealed an important information to Grace – the name of the KKT sorority member who died giving birth in the bathtub, global Business Times reported. She tries to disclaim Grace’s theories by saying that she believes Feather (Tavi Gevinson) is the Red Devil killer, and now that Feather has been locked into an asylum, the killings are over. Munsch finally offered up the girls name to Grace and it turns out her name was Sophia Doyle.
I also called that there were two babies and that Grace and Pete are somehow siblings and they’re hooking up and that’s totally gross.
Grace discovers that Gigi Caldwell (Nasim Pedrad) is the hag from Shady Lane. As Chanel astutely points out, being the scion of Kappa’s bitchiest sister of all shatters Grace’s sense of self as Kappa’s conscience.
At the very least, Wes could trust Gigi’s intuition: after all, she too spent time in a mental hospital. He claims he’s just playing along with it. While talking with him, Grace realizes that Gigi must have known her father back in their college days. Only Gigi got to him first, and he tells his daughter to let things go. It is one thing to want to wear an ugly hat every now and again, but to have such a finite number in rotation makes it seem like she’s a USPS letter carrier whose uniform choices include those weird necktie things, a polar-fleece vest, or something with shorts and a bucket hat.
Too many people suspect Zayday for her to be one of the killers, but her past story is suspicious.
Chanel explains that Grace’s mom is the very same Kappa who wanted to make TLC’s “Waterfalls” the official house song.
In other developments, Denise will take on the mantle of being the new house mother of the Kappa House. The Scotland Yard detectives reveal to Chanel that Zayday is most likely not Red Devil given her history.
Gigi and Wes Gardner (Oliver Hudson), got engaged. We all knew he was one of the Red Devils, the question is now who the other one is… probably a girl based on the painting. Aside from learning that Chanel #5 wants to poison Chanel (obviously), their primary discovery is that Grace’s mom is not, in fact, dead bathtub girl. Grace put bad energy out into the world when yelling at her dad, and it came right back at her. Jennifer aka the Candle Girl aka the only remaining “extra” sorority girl is convinced that Zayday couldn’t possibly by the killer because she displays none of the personality traits of a psycho. She says if Chanel refuses to apologize to Grace, “Denise Hemphill WILL take your man”. Meanwhile, Denise (Niecy Nash) is cooking in the kitchen when Chanel #3 (Billie Lourd) confronts her about her presence. Chanel tries to focus on the “real enemies”, Zayday and Grace… after all, all this craziness and murder started once they got here right? She confronts her dad, who confirms everything including that he burned their house down to burn all the evidence of who her mother was. Viewers learned that her mother was Bethany Stevens, who also happened to be the Kappa Kappa Tau president in 1995. I would say Zayday or Grace, but the former was held captive by one of the Devils and the other just seems dubious to me. This whole system you’ve got now is not working for you. Chanel No. 1 fronts her ten percent of the three million she’ll receive for Zaday’s murder proof. Gigi and Wes accused the Dean of being the killer.

At this time last week, I was pleading with Scream Queens to give us answers or give us deaths. The Chanels as simps who use their money to get whatever they want works so much better than the idea of them as serious mean girls; they’re not the Heathers or even characters from Jawbreaker, as much as Ryan Murphy may want them to be.
