Scream Renewed for Season 2 by MTV

“Scream”, the television series based on the popular horror film franchise, has been renewed for a second season by MTV, Deadline reports.

The high school-set series follows a slew of not-yet-slain students who start to get picked off one-by-one after a cyber bullying incident. But it continues to deliver significantly in social media care of the support of lead-in “Pretty Little Liars”.

“[W]e are thrilled by how our viewers have responded to the reinvention of Scream”, reads a statement from MTV EVP Mina Lefevre.

Another anthology series, “Tales From the Crypt” ran on HBO for seven seasons between 1989 and 1996, during which time it became famous for its wisecracking host, The Crypt Keeper, voiced by John Kassir. Berman has appeared on camera for “Extra”, “Entertainment Tonight”, “Access Hollywood”, “The CBS Evening News”, CNN, and more; and was the author of 2014 desk calendar, “This Day in TV History”.

Added Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films, “We promise even more scares, surprises, romance and of course kills in season two”. “Scream” stars Willa Fitzgerald as “Emma”, Bex Taylor-Klaus as “Audrey”, Carlson Young as “Brooke”, Amadeus Serafini as “Kieran”, John Karna as “Noah”, Connor Weil as “Will”, Tracy Middendorf as “Maggie” and Jason Wiles as “Sheriff Hudson”.
