Screen Scene: Matt Damon on becoming ‘Bourne’ again

Bone up on secret agent thriller Jason Bourne, with Matt Damon returning for his fourth film in the franchise as the highly trained, very deadly global amnesiac super-agent, driven by an unquenchable desire to uncover the truth against all odds.

And in this supercut from the franchise – which gears up for the arrival of its latest action-packed outing, Jason Bourne – the stealth mercenary pulls no punches.

He told ‘Today: “I took a bunch of roles in a row”.

There have been 10 years of uncertainty for Bourne fans since the spy escaped from Moscow in The Bourne Ultimatum, with Damon not involved in series’ most-recent instalment The Bourne Legacy, but as the secret agent emerges from the shadows to continue his quest to find his true identity, he stumbles into a world high in tension and lacking in stability. “This cab driver turned around and was like, “You know, I went to the Strip, they closed it off and made this awesome action sequence for the new Bourne movie”. “They’re great travelers. But I’m excited to finish this year of work and take a year off and be at their behest for once”. But the action scenes are good, and that’s all you ever really need out of a Bourne movie.

“I was known for a different kind of work and so it really opened up a whole new avenue for me of roles that I can get, and it put me on a shortlist of actors that got me access to a lot of directors that I really wanted to work with, so it was a big, gamechanging role for me”, added Matt. Sometimes it is an adventure.

Throw in a twist or two – particularly centred around Bourne’s father – then everything satisfyingly meshes together to make this a generally worthwhile entry, with both Vikander and Lee Jones providing noteworthy support. “The younger ones probably not so much”.
