Baton Rouge’s top prosecutor is weighing whether to pursue charges against almost 200 demonstrators arrested in weekend protests over the killings of young black men as criticism mounts by protesters over the tactics officers used on the crowds.

The investigation was handed over to the FBI Wednesday, and East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore said on Thursday that the DA’s office would not make a move on the case until the federal investigators wrapped up their investigation.

Baton Rouge Police have identified the officers as as Salamoni, a four-year veteran, and three-year veteran Howie Lake II.

Moore said Salamoni’s parents are both high-ranking career police officers, and that he’s worked with them often during his 42-year career.

Among those arrested was DeRay Mckesson, according to an Associated Press reporter who was at the scene.
