Seagate Demos Astonishing 60TB SSD for Business Superpowers
There’s been plenty of storage news emerging, due to the fact that the Flash Memory Summit is now underway in Santa Clara, and Seagate has certainly come up with a headline-grabbing development: a massive 60TB SSD.

It is equivalent to the capacity needed to accommodate 400 million photos on a typical social media platform, or 12,000 DVD movies.
Seagate has just announced a whopping 60 TB solid-state-drive, the largest SSD yet with that sort of capacity. That sounds plenty ideal for a data center scenario.
“Data centers can rely on an SSD that helps address their need to quickly accommodate and ensure accessibility of ever-increasing large amounts of data without having to add additional servers or incorporate additional management steps”, the company said.
Seagate say that the 60TB SSD is only a demo at the moment and won’t be appearing as a product until next year. “Applications can process more transactions faster using the industry’s highest bandwidth through one PCIe slot, and without having to invest in more hardware”. Also, this technology readily integrates into all-flash system arrays.
Seagate made its announcement at the thrilling-sounding, men-only Flash Memory Summit conference, where it revealed that the 60TB SAS should start hitting the market in 2017. You can visit Seagate at booth #505 in the Santa Clara Convention Center.

As you might imagine, though, the 60TB SAS SSD is a product aimed at enterprises, and the price will probably be outside of most individuals’ range.
