Seagate also announced a couple other 10TB models that cost less but aren’t geared toward desktop performance: The 10TB IronWolf is for NAS applications, with a list price of $469.99, and the 10TB SkyHawk drive for video-surveillance use is priced at $459.99. Today, the Guardian Series, consisting of a portfolio of 10TB helium-based drives, is being launched for various segments in the mainstream consumer market.

So, how did Segate manage to make this 10 TB monster? The cache on this drive is largest I have seen personally, at 256MB.
Need a ridiculous amount of storage for your home PC?
The BarraCuda Pro can sustain up to 55TB of data writes per year, according to Deardorff.
The first Barracuda hard drive model offers 2.5-Inch with slim 7mm with its lightweight users will be able to enjoy nearly 2 Terabytes of storage. Data stored at the outer edge will transfer more quickly than the innermost tracks, which is why short-stroking hard drives to isolate and only use the outer tracks used to be a thing. The thinnest 2.5-in. BarraCuda drive is 7mm thick, small enough for ultrathin notebooks; it offers up to 2TB of capacity.
The BarraCuda Pro is already being shipped worldwide and comes with a five-year warranty.
The BarraCuda Pro 10TB is a 7200-RPM SATA drive with a 256-MB cache. The other product is the one that has people talking, the so-called 3.5 inch BarraCuda Pro that reaches over 10 TB in its memory. It’s a high-capacity solution without the high price tag and offers high performance for gamers, creative professionals, and tech enthusiasts.
The BarraCuda Pro carries a 5-year warranty, with the 10TB drive having an MSRP of $535.
There has been no official information regarding South African pricing or availability.
Seagate it’s marketing the Barracuda line under the line of “Trusted Dependability”, thanks to its 20 years experience in the technology market and having a well-known name, especially in the Barracuda line.
For over a decade, Seagate’s high-end consumer drives were branded as Barracuda’s. While the company wins points for simplicity, “Desktop HDD” isn’t the kind of branding that gets anyone excited about anything.
The SkyHawk drives also come with RV sensors and the series is supported by Seagate Rescue for data recovery.

The final piece to Seagate’s 10TB puzzle is the SkyHawk, which is designed for use in video surveillance systems. The Ironwolf drives contain additional vibration dampening technology, including remote vibration sensors, dual-plane balancing, and built-in error recovery control. It will be available from 6TB, 8TB and 10TB capacities, saving energy and assuring error recovery. There’s also the rather-gimmicky named “multi-user technology”, which is said to provide a 180TB/year workload rate per user.
