Seahawks agree to terms with CB Jeremy Lane

Mebane leaves the Seahawks after 9 season for a three-year deal with the Chargers.

Covered the Baltimore Ravens and the National Football League for BaltimoreSun.com from 2006 to 2008. He’s also another of Seattle’s undrafted free agents to work his way to the active roster and stick as a key contributor for the team.

Kearse has been a complementary asset to Seattle’s passing game, working alongside Doug Baldwin and the emergence last season of rookie Tyler Lockett. But instead, they opted for continuity – someone who has played in big games and been a reliable, unselfish teammate.

Lane infamously torn his ACL and broke his arm on the same play after intercepting a Tom Brady pass in Super Bowl XLIX.

Limited to just six games in 2015-2016, the 25-year-old produced 13 total tackles, two interceptions and six pass defenses.

Clemons came to the Seahawks via trade in 2010, and led the team with 11 sacks in both 2010 and 2011.

The length of the contract, however, would seem to indicate the Seahawks confidence that Lane could be the guy to round out the current edition of the Legion Of Boom, long-term.

As recently as last week, wide receiver Jermaine Kearse was not expecting to be back with the Seattle Seahawks. First, OLB Bruce Irvin agreed to terms with the Oakland Raiders, followed quickly by DT Brandon Mebane signing with San Diego and guard J.R. Sweezy defecting to Tampa Bay. As a senior, he was named to the All-Big East Conference First Team and All-Big East Conference Second Team as a junior.
