Seahawks Crush Vikings, 38-7

The Seahawks made Adrian Peterson-the leading rusher in the league coming in-a non-factor in the game.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson struggled to get much of anything going, getting just 18 yards on the ground on eight carries.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The pass rush was a problem for the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the season, but lately they’ve given Russell Wilson plenty of time to throw.

This flimsy premise of Wilson being off of his game because he hung out with Ciara in Mexico a few weeks ago, no one is bringing that up now, not after a 21-for-27, 274-yard and four-touchdown performance that piggy-backed onto a terrific five-TD game against the Steelers.

Wilson has thrown for 11 scores without an interception and an average of 293 yards with a 76.7 completion percentage during the winning streak.

Following a 2-4 start, with losses by a total of 17 points all to teams that were undefeated at the time, the Seahawks have climbed deeper into the playoffs picture.

Doug Baldwin had two touchdowns and 94 yards receiving and Thomas Rawls rushed for 101 yards and a score as the Seahawks (7-5) did whatever they wanted with the ball against an injury-depleted Vikings defense. Seattle owned a 433-125 advantage in total yards. Ordinarily, the Vikings are a disciplined, tough, physical team that takes care of the ball and runs the ball well on offense, plays stingy defense and outperforms the opposition on special teams. Baltimore (4-8) is virtually out of the race. They travel to Arizona for their annual Thursday night game against the NFC West-leading Cardinals (10-2).

The Vikings, in many ways, are a better version of what they were in 2012: They are in their comfort zone when they build an early lead, can base their offense on Peterson and allow their defense to shut opponents down.

That means Seattle is now a game ahead of the rest of the field for the final Wild Card spot – Seattle is 7-5, and next on the list are the Bucs and Falcons at 6-6. When Lynch is back, the Seahawks will have the luxury of trotting out two capable, bruising running backs on any given possession, thus opening up the field even more for Wilson. Peterson met with Zimmer to discuss concerns with the team’s offensive strategy after he got just 13 carries against the Green Bay Packers.

Would he be willing to elaborate on that?

YOUNG HAWKS: Rawls, the undrafted revelation from Central Michigan, isn’t the only rookie shining for the Seahawks.

Stefon Diggs, WR, Minnesota Vikings: Diggs caught just two balls in Week 13, turning them into 22 yards.

In addition to Baldwin’s solid day, Lockett ended the game with 90 yards on seven grabs.

If there’s been a specific area of improvement for Wilson in the past month it has been his throwing from the pocket, one aspect of his game many have questioned. Robison tackled Wilson a second time after Wilson tried to run away. The Vikings won’t even show up.

“I didn’t end up with a concussion or stuff like that”. When he has time, and he’s got guys open, he hits them. Both have been detrimental in the Viking losses this season.

“It is what it is”. “You don’t want to go in down 21 at halftime, but we should be able to bite down and come back in some type of way”, he said. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
