Seahawks fall to Rams 9-3 as National Football League returns to Los Angeles
This was the first time in the 36-game series between the Seahawks and Rams that the winning team scored fewer than 14 points.

RIVALRY RULES: The Rams haven’t made the playoffs since 2004, but they’ve beaten title-contending Seattle in four of the NFC West rivals’ last five meetings, including three straight.
A football-loving town had both of its teams simultaneously taken away by two owners with wanderlust after the 1994 season.
HOLD THE LINE: The Seahawks have not done well standing up to the Rams’ vaunted defensive line, which could be Los Angeles’ only significant advantage against Seattle.
While the Rams’ defense mostly shut down Wilson and the Seahawks, the offense struggled.
LOS ANGELES (AP) Greg Zuerlein kicked three field goals the longest a 47-yarder in the fourth quarter and the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Seattle Seahawks 9-3 on Sunday that marked the return of pro football to the nation’s second-largest market for the first time in almost 22 years.
And things don’t get any easier for the Rams, who play the Seattle Seahawks at 1 p.m. September 18 in their home opener in the Coliseum.
The third quarter featured a battle of field position, but the Rams crept into field goal range at the conclusion of the period.
They got to Russell Wilson constantly, producing eight quarterback hits after amassing only one on Monday.
Russell Wilson threw a 53-yard pass to Tyler Lockett on the Rams 35, but it was Rams fans who were celebrating at the final whistle as Marc Barron caused a Christine Michael fumble and Los Angeles recovered the ball to claim the win. That sealed the result, and Rams quarterback Case Keenum took a knee to end the contest. Former Los Angeles Lakers star Magic Johnson was at the game, hanging out with actress Holly Robinson Peete. But the National Football League is back, and it was compelling. I’ll play more and more and I’ll get more and more opportunities.
“We ask everyone to stay vigilant and remember ‘If you see something, say something!,'” Beck said in a statement, promising “there are no known, specific, or credible threats here in Los Angeles”, and ensuring “a secure environment”.
“When I think of the Rams, I still think of those teams from the 1970s and how big they were then”, Modesti, an editorial writer for the Los Angeles Daily News, told Reuters.
So, even with the Rams wearing their old-school uniforms against the Seahawks and recognizing some of their all-time greats at halftime, this game, in terms of commemorating championships, was more about Carroll. It did not live up to that bill at all, as the Giants squeaked out a 16-13 win in a game that only produced one offensive touchdown.
Notes: Kenny Britt led the Rams with 94 receiving yards and six receptions.
Gurley rushed for 51 yards on 19 carries (2.7 yards) on Sunday.
“I’ll be ready to roll”, Wilson said on Thursday.
There was plenty of Hollywood pomp and circumstance before Sunday’s game with each of the team’s living Hall of Famers, including St. Louis Rams Marshall Faulk and Orlando Pace, present for a pregame ceremony. He’s got some new rehabilitation to do before he can play next Sunday at home against San Francisco.

Zuerlein’s field goal stood as the only scoring of the first quarter, when the Rams appeared to be saving running back Todd Gurley – the NFL’s reigning offensive rookie of the year – for the 2019 opening of their Inglewood stadium.
