The Seattle Seahawks have indefinitely suspended fullback Derrick Coleman pending a local police investigation. The report said he has not appeared for a bail hearing.

Few additional details are known regarding the circumstances surrounding Coleman’s arrest. The other driver was hurt in the crash, possibly breaking a collarbone, a law-enforcement source said.

“He was clearly not in his right mind after the accident, and that would probably be due to a concussion, but that’s speculation as well”, Hayne said.

After the crash, Coleman reportedly got out of his Dodge pickup truck and walked away.

Coleman has 96 total offensive yards and two touchdowns over the course of his career, and he won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks two seasons ago. The results of a blood test to determine whether he had taken drugs or alcohol were pending.

Jail records show he was booked into the jail at 1:20 a.m. Thursday.

Coleman could face felony charges of vehicular assault and hit and run. He made six starts, including two this year. Coleman missed 11 games and the playoffs last season because of a broken foot.

Derrick Fox and Mark Bloom, Coleman’s agents, released a statement that indicated Coleman might have fallen asleep at the wheel.

“That will be a focus of the investigation”, the police chief said, adding that his department wants to bring Coleman back in for more questioning. He is considered to be one of the Seahawks’ best special-teams players.

With Coleman suspended, Seattle has just one fullback on the roster, that being Will Tukuafu.
