Seahawks’ Lockette has surgery, to miss rest of season
Lockette was injured while covering a punt late in the first half of Sunday’s 13-12 win at Dallas when he was hit hard by Dallas’ Jeff Heath.

“I really haven’t seen the play”.
“Ricardo Lockette underwent successful neck surgery this afternoon at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas”, reads a statement from the team. To put it in perspective, if the cowboys lose the next two games, then Tony Romo will have to go undefeated for the rest of the season just to remain above.500. “Obviously we have concern for him, but that’s Pete Carroll, and the coaches and staff on their team’s role to do that. This is a daunting task, even with Romo back, to really get our feet back up under us”. He was nearly a split image of Weeden’s style of play, if not maybe worse, needless to say, that did not work.
As valuable as Sean Lee, Greg Hardy, Dez Bryant, Witten and Dallas’ entire offensive line are, this five-game skid has proven Romo means just as much to the Cowboys as any other big-name signal caller does to his respective Super Bowl-contending team.
The toughest part about all these close, last-minute losses is Cassel made simple mistakes that truly show the difference between a Pro Bowl-caliber starting quarterback in the National Football League and a career backup.
Later on in the game, the Cowboys were lining up for a Dan Bailey field goal attempt.
Seattle was not flagged for the second timeout, which was called hoping to avoid a penalty for having 12 men on the field.
Due to a bend-but-don’t break Seattle defense, the Cowboys could muster only four field goals once they got into the red zone, and thus they suffered their fifth loss in a row. Obviously, the snap did not happen. “He had a sore neck and we’ll figure out what that all means, but we’re grateful that he was able to bounce out from that and be pretty positive about it right now as we hear from him”, the coach added in its website.

Bryant took to his verified Twitter account after the game saying “I got on one knee and prayed for lockette I would never in my f***ing life do a few s*** like that”. The 2-5 Cowboys will host the 3-4 Eagles next, on Sunday Night Football. But he played more than expected and should get better with more time on the field and more time with quarterback Matt Cassel…FS Byron Jones is the new starter at free safety in place of J.J. Wilcox.
