Seahawks’ Lockette to undergo neck surgery

After a scary collision Sunday that left him concussed, Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette will undergo neck surgery Monday, the team announced.

Carroll thanked everyone who assisted in treating Lockette. It’s unclear exactly what it means for his playing career or season, but that’s obviously secondary to the relief of knowing that he won’t be paralyzed or otherwise seriously affected.

“We are really grateful that our medical staff and the emergency staff at the stadium, the medical staff of the Cowboys and also Baylor Hospital were able to really jump at the cause and take great care of him”, Carroll said. But several Twitter users pointed out that it was too hard to know for sure what Bryant actually said.

Meanwhile, a video surfaced later on showing Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant shouting “That’s what the f- he gets!” while he pointed at the Seahawks players. Coming off those two big wins, this is the flawless time for Seattle to get their break.

Seattle may replace Lockette on the roster with receiver Paul Richardson, who last week came off the physically-unable-to-perform list and could be activated for the game against Arizona on November 15.

Lockette has been a special teams standout for the Seahawks since joining the team in 2011.

He never saw Dallas’ Heath turn into him and lift him off his feet with a blow to the upper chest near midfield.

Bennett was critical of coach Garrett for not going on the field to check on Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette after he was knocked unconscious during a play by Cowboys FS Jeff Heath.

The Seahawks started the decisive drive at their 15, with Wilson converting three third downs capped by a scramble that helped run the clock before Steven Hauschka’s 24-yard field goal with 1:06 remaining.

Heath was penalized for a blind-side block on the play. Meanwhile, both benches emptied onto the field.

Later on in the game, the Cowboys were lining up for a Dan Bailey field goal attempt.

Lockette was prone on the field for 10 minutes or so before being transported off the field, raising his right arm and finger in the air. “They were on that from the first moment”, Carroll said of the medical response.

“I was angry, and I was confused at what happened”, linebacker K.J. Wright said. “So if those are injured you no longer have the stabilizing elements that keep your spine from falling forward”, he said.
