Seahawks’ Marshawn Lynch Has Hernia Surgery
But Carroll said the doctors “fixed everything that was wrong and the doctor was very optimistic about his return”. He runs hard, very similar to the Beast, and has the quick burst that allows him to get to the second level.

Cornerback Richard Sherman will likely get the call to cover Brown for the majority of the game. San Francisco also gave up 209 yards rushing to a little-known rookie running back named Thomas Rawls, who shined on a day Marshawn Lynch sat out with an abdominal injury. Lynch’s 3.76 yards per carry ranks 37th in the league.
It was announced on Wednesday that Marshawn Lynch is having surgery for a sports hernia, and is expected to miss about a month.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday morning that the fear was that it would require surgery, then confirmed on Tuesday that’s the case.
With Lynch’s health uncertain, Rawls may be in line for many more carries as the Seahawks try to push their way back into the playoff picture.
“Well, I guess we could look at it that way”, the usually all-sunny Carroll said. “But that’s not (the reason for the visit) – it’s to go back there for the evaluation to find out what’s next, and there are a couple choices possibly depending on what the doctor feels is necessary”.
“We’ll see how that plays out”.
“I have never run out of bounds”, Rawls said, according to ESPN.com. “It’s legitimately bothering him”.
That plan unraveled quickly Sunday, as did just about everything else in the 49ers defense. I’m excited for him to have another opportunity to go out, see our guys block for him and see what we can get done again.
Following Sunday’s win over San Francisco, Lynch flew to Philadelphia to consult with specialist Dr. William Meyers, the same surgeon who recently operated on Mariners star Robinson Cano. It’s too early to know if any of those injuries will keep these players out against the Steelers, but with the way the offense was playing on Sunday, it would be good for the Seahawks to keep finding the rhythm that they had been missing all season.
There’s no question that Rawls is the Seahawks’ running back of the future, but it will be interesting to see how the organization handles Lynch’s situation.
From 2010 to 2014, Lynch missed just one game thanks to injury.
He has appeared on the injury report with hamstring, calf and abdominal injuries.

It was third time Rawls started in place of Lynch this season and he has gone over 100-yards each time, going for 104 yards against the Chicago Bears on September 27 and 169 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals on October 11.
